What's in the set
- Weighted Neck Pillow: 17", about 3 lbs of gentle, even weight that drapes across your neck and the tops of your shoulders.
- Weighted Eye Pillow: about 9 oz of gentle weight that blocks light and rests softly over closed eyes, with a removable, washable cover.
- Both: 100% cotton, whole flaxseed and dried herbs, in the fabric and scent you choose.
How to use it
- Warm the neck pillow: 1½ to 2 minutes in a 1000 to 1100 watt microwave, in short, supervised steps. Stop as soon as it feels comfortably warm.
- Warm the eye pillow: about 30 seconds, in short intervals. Stop as soon as it feels comfortably warm.
- Cool either one: seal in a bag and place in the freezer. Lovely on a warm, wakeful night.
- A quiet ritual: lie back, drape the neck pillow across your shoulders, rest the eye pillow over your eyes, and breathe.
Heating & safety
Microwave times (find your wattage on the label inside the door):
- Neck Pillow: 700 to 900 watts, 2 to 2½ minutes. 1000 to 1100 watts, 1½ to 2 minutes. 1200 watts or more, 1¼ to 1¾ minutes. Add 30-second steps after that only if needed.
- Eye Pillow: 700 to 900 watts, about 40 seconds. 1000 to 1100 watts, about 30 seconds. 1200 watts or more, about 25 seconds. Add 10-second steps after that only if needed.
- Start at the low end and heat in short steps. Never leave it in the microwave unattended.
- Knead it to spread the heat, then test it on the inside of your wrist. It should feel comfortably warm, never hot.
- Let it cool completely before you heat it again.
- Do not sleep with a heated wrap, and do not use heat on skin that cannot feel temperature well (for example with diabetes, nerve damage, poor circulation, numbness, or after surgery).
- Not for babies or young children. Never place a weighted product on an infant.
- If it ever smells scorched, stop using it and email me. I will make it right.
Cool: seal in a bag and freeze for about an hour. Use a thin cloth between a frozen piece and bare skin, up to 20 minutes at a time.
Care
Keep both weighted pieces dry and spot clean only. The eye pillow cover is removable and washable. Never submerge the weighted inserts, since water damages the flaxseed fill.
